To clean a Moka pot properly, follow these steps:

  1. Disassemble the Moka pot by twisting off the top, removing the basket, and unscrewing the bottom chamber.
  2. Rinse all the parts under hot water.
  3. Use a soft cloth or brush to remove any coffee residue from the metal parts. Do not use steel wool or other abrasives that could damage the aluminum or stainless steel on the Moka pot.
  4. Fill the bottom chamber with hot water and a small amount of dish soap. Some people prefer to use vinegar instead of soap. Swirl the soapy water around to clean the inside of the chamber.
  5. Rinse the bottom chamber with hot water to remove the soap or vinegar residue.
  6. Repeat steps 4-5 for the top chamber and the coffee basket.
  7. Reassemble the Moka pot, ensuring all parts are properly aligned and screwed together.

It’s also important to note that many people do not recommend washing the Moka pot in the dishwasher or using soap on the gasket. Cleaning the Moka pot after each use will help prevent coffee oils from building up and affecting the taste of your coffee.
