How to Install and Configure Proxy SwitchyOmega on Google Chrome

Installing Proxy SwitchyOmega

Under normal circumstances, once you have enabled SS, you can directly access the Chrome Web Store to install Proxy SwitchyOmega. Just search for “Proxy SwitchyOmega” and install it.

Offline Installation

Of course, you can also install it through the offline CRX package. Download the installation package directly from Github:

Enter chrome://extensions in the Chrome address bar to open the extension page, and drag the .crx extension SwitchyOmega installation file into the extension page to install it according to the prompts.

Configuring Proxy SwitchyOmega

After Proxy SwitchyOmega is installed, two scenario modes are already set by default: auto switch and proxy.

The following steps show how to modify the default settings or add new ones.

Adding a Proxy Mode

After installation, the extension icon will appear in the upper right corner of the Chrome browser. Select “Options” to open the SwitchyOmega option settings interface, click “New Scenario Mode”, and set the name to “ss proxy” (the same as the default proxy mode). Select “Proxy Server” for scenario type, and then add SOCKS5 proxy information:

By default, the SOCKS5 proxy port of SS is 1080.

After completion, click “Apply Options” to save the settings.

Adding an Auto-Switch Mode

Click “New Scenario Mode” again, set the name to “Auto Switch” (the same as the default auto switch mode), select “Auto Switching Mode” for the scenario type, and click “Create”.

In “Rule List Settings”, fill in:

Then click “Immediately Update Scenario Mode”, and the corresponding rule list will be displayed in “Rule List Body”.

In the “Switching Rule” above, check the box in front of “Rule List Rule”, select “ss proxy” (the same as the default proxy mode) set in the previous step, and select “Direct Connection” for “Default Scenario Mode”. Click “Apply Options” on the left to save the settings.

This setting means that if the URL matches the URL rule in the rule list, it will go through the proxy. If there is no match or under default circumstances, it will directly access the Internet.

Experience Auto Proxy Switching

Change the proxy mode of SS to “Auto Proxy Mode”: click the SwitchyOmega icon and select the “Auto Switch” (the same as the default proxy mode) option.

Then open google.com in Chrome to see if you can access it normally.
